about

Greenleaf’s debut album Greenberry Hill takes you on a pensive walk through an deserted landscape in an unknown time. While the album was mainly composed on a Nintendo Game Boy running LSDJ tracking software, the duo was able to stay away from typical chipmusic conventions by adding atmospheric elements, sharp editing, and devastating beats. Asif Siddiky (2 Player Productions) and Drew Fernando (Orange Drink) poignantly use the limitations of the antiquated sound chip in a new way to create a paradoxical soundscape that is at times as frightening as it is hopeful.

Each song is a landmark, often challenging us with conflicting messages and emotions. In this sense, Greenberry Hill gives one an isolating experience, as you travel on a path with no guide, no reference point, no North Star. But it is in this journey alone where the greatest rewards can be found, tears streaming down your face, smiling, as you reach Greenberry Hill.
